Initial Impressions: Alien Syndrome – PSP

I picked this up from Toys ‘R’ Us for $4.98 new today. While it came out in 2007 for the 20th Anniversary of it’s predecessor, I’ll note that 2008 marks 20 years since it hit my beloved Sega Master System. It’s a shooter/RPG with an isometric view. Oddly enough it has a choice of a melee character so it then becomes my latest yoink ‘n’ smash fix after having beaten Throne of Agony the first time around.

Gameplay is simple, smash/shoot anything that moves while moving from room to room in a futuristic/sci-fi environment. You can level up and attribute skill/class points and also fabricate new items. I’ve only played a bit of it so far but suffice to say I’m going to enjoy this. Decent sound/graphics and the controls work well. It’s like Alien’s Gate: Dark Gauntlet and so far well worth the $5 I spent on it!
